Award winning training

Dogs from all across America have come to our kennels at Halfwood Farm to be trained with a kind and patient hand and to develop the skills that will set them up for success in the shooting field and at home. There are no shortcuts in what we do. Through strong foundational skills and and teaching effective communication, we try our best to develop a relationship with dogs that is second to none. Each dog is different and each of our clients’ expectations are different. We communicate with you to determine exactly what you want in a dog and then set a path to achieve those goals.

Our kennel and training facilities were designed with thought and purpose. The dogs have heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. We have almost three acres of fenced in paddocks for the dogs to relax in when they are not being trained. Our kennel staff makes sure the kennels are cleaned and sanitized daily. Having a clean and tidy kennel is important to us and gives our clients peace of mind. Although where we live is very bucolic and safe, all of our doors have electronic pin codes and we have both interior and exterior surveilance cameras for added security. Our training cover is a mix of pasture with native and planted cover grasses, hilly woodlands, and a variety of other mixed and exciting cover. In addition to working on a variety of birds at our facility we have many opportunities to train in live settings, during pheasant shoots, on guided hunts, and on wild birds throughout the year.

People often ask us if we train dogs for obedience and the answer is yes. The same foundational skills used in the field are what gives a dog success in the home and many of the dogs that come to us for training are dual purpose dogs who spend time as family dogs as well as shooting companions. We encourage anyone who is looking for a deeper connection between themselves and their dog to get in touch.
